Punch Needle Witchy Bird
Witchy Bird. Was raining so much yesterday I went ahead and completed this little bird. All dressed up for Halloween. Hanging on a carousel pole with two black ribbons for the final touch. Was fun to do. Jana

Halloween Punch Needle Witchy Bird
Hello, Already in the shops I saw Christmas items going up. So I thought I better catch up. Heres my next project. A halloween bird. I'm not ready for Christmas. I love punch needle because it goes faster than some other needlework techniques. I have found embellishing punch needle designs is endless. I gave the candy corns a more painterly look here. I am not sure if I want to put this on a halloween candy bag or turn it into a more carousel type ornament. Thanks for looking, Jana

Punch Needle. The Horse Menagerie Carousel .
Almost have the opposite side of the carousel done. Wow he is taking a long time to complete.
I really like to give these carousels a painterly look.
Thanks,
Jana

Stick Horse Punch Needle
Here are my new projects. These are vintage like. The Stick Horse. Wow a time gone by. I enjoyed creating these characters and decorating them. I painted the dowels and the candle bulbs for the carousel pole. There is the long beaded reins for the imaginary rider. They are then stuffed. They can take up to 12 -14 hours to create. These are 13 inches long and I am making them for Christmas stocking stuffers.
Punch needle is something I discovered one afternoon while shopping around Occoquan Va. A cute small town with unique shops. I saw a small miniature punch needle rug looking like something out of the mid 1800 's. It was beautiful. I have been doing needle punch ever since. I have had friends ask me to do a tutorial on needle punch so I have been working on that and hope to have one up soon. Jana

The Storm Jar Project on Amazon Kindle
Last year I published a Kindle book called, "Decorative Painting Project." It is about making a storm jar. Some people call it a hurricane jar. These jars hold spare candles and matches when the lights go out.
I found a clay pot in an old shop along the coast. I bought some potting clay that will air dry. I took the clay and turned the lid into a candle holder. Then I painted the jar to represent a captain of his ship standing his own through a midnight storm out on the open seas.
The jar looks nice on a mantle or next to a fireplace. I have made several of these storm jars and given them as gifts. Decorative painting is a pleasant pass time. The book has plenty of color photos showing how to apply the clay and step by step painting instructions and the design included. If you would like to try this project check it out on Amazon kindle. Keep matches away from the little ones.
Always,
Jana
